About me?

Hi my name is Halley-Jade (pronounced like HEYLEE JAYD) some people give me nicknames like Hal, HJ, Halls. You can call me whatever you want, I’m not picky about it.

Here’s some usual “about me” stuff that either means a lot or nothing at all depending on whose reading—I’m an INTJ, Slytherin. Sun, Moon & Rising = Aquarius, Virgo & Leo.

I like to paint, draw, crochet, and I’m always trying new creative hobbies. I was born in 1993. I’m the love child of an artist and a musician, I don’t know if it’s possible to inherit traits like obsessive creativity from your parents, but I surely did. Am I any good at all my hobbies? I’m not sure it matters, since I’m having fun anyway.

I have a degree in Photography, I’m working on a new one in English (it’s my money, I can waste it if I want.)

But I swear someday there’ll be a celebration throughout Oz that’s all to do with me.

Is this website a cry for help?

The short answer is probably yes. But let’s unpack that, for the fun of it—

I find myself growing more disillusioned with social media. I grew up on the internet and like many young millennials I’ve worked my way through more social websites than I can count. I like trying new stuff, but I miss the old internet. I miss the personalization of MySpace pages. I liked the idea of a personal website for that reason.

The internet is the ultimate third space. The world wide web of the y2k era felt endless, but I think we have gotten a little lazy with mainstream social media platforms. The totality of the internet has been boiled down to a hand full of apps that actually kinda suck ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;) .

Essentially, this website is an attempt to exist in a social space that prioritizes individuality. It’s a creative journal and a living eulogy. But probably more like a time-consuming ego trip.

Everything I love will find it’s way here. The causes I care about, the music that I can’t stop listening to, the movies I watched recently.
